TYPEFACE
a documentary about the last wood-type (font) maker in America
In north-eastern Wisconsin is a little museum and manufacturer of wood-type fonts, the last of its kind in America. As letterpress printing fades into a niche print world, the folks at The Hamilton Wood Type Museum keep making fonts like they did over 100 years ago. This place might be small, but designers from around the world hold it in high esteem.

Details: I was brought on to the documentary, TYPEFACE, to shoot some pickup shots in Minnesota. The sessions were really great and a much larger chunk of my work ended up making it into the finished film, which has screened all over the world. The film is about the last working wood-type manufacturer and museum, The Hamilton Wood Type Museum, in Wisconsin. Typefaces, fonts, layouts, design, history… Fascinating stuff, if I do say so myself.
